Process

At D&Z Design Associates, we know that designing and building your own home is a huge investment—and we are truly honored to be part of that process.

We provide a complete “one-stop-shop” for all your residential design needs, including:

1

Initial Planning

We’ll listen to all of your dreams and desires—as well as your budget and timeline. And right from the start, we’ll give you all the accurate information that you need to make informed decisions.

2

Site Visit

We always visit the building site to see and feel for ourselves where the home (and your family!) will actually live. It may sound a little clichéd, but we find that the site often speaks to us—and that helps guide our designs.

3

Design Concepts

Our creative team will bring your vision to life so you can see the big picture as well as intricate details. Our design process is very collaborative. While we will give honest recommendations based on our own experience, ultimately you make the final decisions to create the home you want.

4

Permitting Process

Navigating City offices and Planning Departments is not for the faint of heart! Fortunately, we’ve been doing this for years, and we are well versed in the complicated processes required to obtain design approvals and building permits.

5

Project Coordination

Working with a network of expert consultants including Soils, Civil and Structural Engineers, Interior Designers, Landscape Architects, and Energy Consultants, we provide one single point of contact and coordinate all the different moving pieces that it takes to make your dream home a reality.

6

Construction Oversight

We have a long list of trusted contractors that we can recommend for your project, and we make periodic visits throughout the construction process to help make sure that all of the design specifications are being met.

7

One Last Thing…

Our favorite part of every project is sitting down with you in your new home, enjoying a glass of wine or a cup of coffee and reminiscing about when your gorgeous new home was just a sketch on a piece of paper!
